Many often wonder what will happen after we die? Where we will go? What will it be like? As a Christian and believer of God, I know where I will be going. But for those who are still a little curious, this movie is one that will tear at your heart a little and you may cry too. It also pulled at my heart strings a little as well since I too have experienced a near-death in my life when I was a lot younger. Let’s take a peek at what the movie is about below and my thoughts on it and why it’s a must see movie!

A Little Synopsis of the Movie “After Death”

After Death is a heart gripping film that explores what happens after we die, based on real near-death experiences, conveyed by scientists, authors and survivors. From the New York Times bestselling authors who brought you titles like 90 minutes in Heaven, Imagine Heaven and To Heaven and Back, emerges a cinematic peek beyond the veil that examines the spiritual and scientific dimensions of mortality, inviting us to wonder: Is there life after death?

My Review on the Movie “After Death”

The movie After Death provided me with a sense of I’m not alone in this near-death experience, there are others who too have seen what I have. It gave me a sense of comfort. I have lost loved ones in the past 3 years and even this summer and no matter how many you lose, it will never be easy. I know however for most who leave this world, I have gotten to say good-bye to them. Even if you hadn’t seen them in years, it still takes a toll on your life, on your heart.

a man standing looking at the white light in his near-death experience

This film is one that I knew after learning about what it was talking about I got a little excited because I personally have been in a near-death experience before. I was under the age of 4 and the rescue squad had taken me into a local hospital in Maryland. My mom told me that the EMT’s were pouring jugs of water all over me and my fever was still over 105.6. The doctors worked on me for over 45 minutes because I was seizing for so long, they eventually had to put me into respiratory arrest and were doing chest compressions for a good long while. When I finally came out of my coma, I was explaining everything that the doctors and nurses had done to me. It was like I was floating above the room, everything was in color, yet everything seemed so slow too. The doctors were all baffled at how I came out of that situation alive, awake and talking to them. I knew that God had a purpose for me, and yet I still don’t know what that is.

This movie definitely brought some tears into my eyes, yet I felt at peace during the whole thing. I knew that this movie was meant for me to feel something and I’m so glad I was able to see it. It allowed me to see that I was not alone in this experience and I feel that God put it into my life so that I could see and hear others who has gone through the same thing. It was very comforting to me and I’m sure comfort for those who fear death.

I feel that since I really enjoyed this movie and the comfort it gave me, I feel that you too will enjoy it as much as I do. But I warn you that you may be crying at parts of this movie just as I did. It is out in theaters today, October 27th, so be sure to grab your tickets to see After Death today!

I still can remember the time that I was driving down the road when I heard “Raise a Hallelujah” with Jason and Olivia. It was a song that I had heard before but I never honestly paid close attention to it. I grew up listening to different artists such as Michael Card & Hillsong and just thought it was one of their songs. But after listening to it, I soon listened to the lyrics more and more. 2020 was a hard year for everyone as it made me question a lot of things that I did or used to do. It was the year that we missed getting to celebrate Olivia’s sweet 16 while on vacation and where we honestly didn’t know if my dad was going to make it. Times got tough for a while and honestly it was one of the hardest years around. Jason then shared the video with me via text message as we normally send each other things this way and it really hit home.

As I thought that life was going to fail me as a person, as we lived in fear for our loved ones, I remembered the lyrics to this song. It soon made me realize that life could get worse if we allowed our fears to get to us, but I soon put this song on repeat (as I normally do when feeling down) and I realized that life is good. God does not give you more than you can handle. He is the reason that my dad made it through with very little complications. He is the reason that gave me a little more time with my grandma. The world is back to living in fear again with another varient of the virus, but I can always remember to “Raise a Hallelujah!” I will always look back on him as I go through my hard times no matter how I feel.

Just as the song lyrics say:

I raise a Hallelujah
In the presence of my enemies
I raise a Hallelujah
Louder than the unbeliefI raise a Hallelujah

My weapon is a melody
I raise a Hallelujah
Heaven comes to fight for me I’m gonna sing

In the middle of the storm
Louder and louder
You’re gonna hear my praises roar
Up from the ashes, hope will arise
Death is defeated, the King is alive

Bethel Music

Every time I hear this song, I get tears in my eyes because I know he is with me in the middle of the storm. He WILL hear my praises roar! Back in December when I was watching my grandma take her final breaths of air, I remembered this song. My hope was arising as it was a good thing that my grandma was gone. She was with my pop-pop, her parents, her siblings and most importantly with Jesus! We all knew that while death was not defeated, the King was alive!!

When I first learned of the Chris Tomlin, Kari Jobe & Bethel Music Tour, I knew we had to go see them in concert. Jason and I both have been to a few christian concerts as our first one was on our 2nd date in Fayetteville and I knew he was the right one for me. While we have a few hours to drive to the concert, I encourage you to find a location near you. This is a tour you won’t want to miss this year to stand up with others who want to hear their praises roar too! We can’t wait to go see all these amazing artists in just a few weeks as we sing, cry and worship with thousands of others!
