We’re Back!

I’m pretty sure many of our readers have been wondering where we have been the past few months. I can say that life has been extremely busy for us all as a family. Back in September, Jason returned to work after being out on medical leave for 6 months. We had to adjust with having him home 24/7 and learning to live a little more simple (no big trips to Disney) while he was out.

Olivia: What has she been up to?

Olivia finished her show season out back in August and had a great one to say the least. We are excited to see how far she has improved this year and we are happy to see her ride a new horse. Back in October, she was thrown several times in less than a month on the horse that we were leasing. To say the least, it really shook her up and we realized that maybe Tybee was not the perfect horse for Olivia. She still loves him and gives him lots of love, it just wasn’t safe to put her back on him in the show ring. She is now leasing another horse named Eastwood and he is a quarter/paint horse. The two of them make a great team and we’re excited for show season to begin next month. Not sure which show she will start off with but I will definitely keep you in the loop. Olivia also started to work at the barn she rides at a few times a week (as long as she’s done her schoolwork for the week) and loves it. She’s growing up so fast and it’s hard to believe she’s in her final year of school!

Olive

Olivia lost her pup back in June when we ventured on our very first camping trip with the dogs. It was a sudden loss and for the past 6 months she was sad and missing a pup of her own. In December, she went to a local rescue shelter with Jason and my mom and a little dog by the name of Olive, picked her as her new owner. So, after Olivia called me crying asking if it was ok to love her as much as she did with Luna, I said yes and we adopted her. Olive keeps Olivia busy but it is nice to see Olivia smile again. She has so much love to give this little dog who picked out her owner.

As for me, I decided to go back to school last February and get a certificate in Software (Full Stack) Development. I have been working hard on the classes, spending over 3 hours every Monday & Wednesday nights and 6 hours on Saturday’s for the past 10 months. I finished in December and now I will wait until we receive an email on our graduation and more. Life has been busy but totally worth it.

While life continues to be busy for our family, I will work hard on doing blog posts more this year. 2022 was a rough year for us, but I can tell 2023 will be a much better year for our whole family.
