The spring season is a time when you can spread cheer to other people. It could be a family member who has been going through a difficult time or a friend who needs to know that someone cares. Spring gift baskets are an option to consider if you’re looking for a simple way to spread sunshine. With all of the different items that you can add to the basket, you can make a gift for any age and with any theme.
Some of the items that you can use in a gift basket for spring include fresh fruits and flowers, items that can be used in the garden and items that are bright and cheerful. If the person you’re giving the basket to likes a certain fragrance, then get items that are made with that scent or a color associated with that scent. An example is a lavender basket. You can include sprigs of lavender as well as soaps, bath wash, lotions and sprays that have a lavender fragrance. Add a mug or a few items that are purple, tying a purple ribbon at the top of the basket to complete the gift.
Someone who likes gardening might like a basket full of seeds, bulbs, gloves and a few gardening tools that can fit in a small basket. Try to find a gardening basket with pockets on the sides. Put packs of seeds in the pockets with the larger items in the basket. A few homemade items, such as cookies or a simple cake, can also be included. Another type of basket that you can make in the spring is an Easter basket. This is an idea for the kids in your life. You can get simple plastic baskets or a simple basket with a handle for a dollar or two. Add items that are age-appropriate, such as a coloring book, crayons, bubbles, a jump rope and even a few Easter eggs. Add a few pieces of candy as well. The ideas for a spring basket are endless because you can include so many different items depending on who will receive the basket.

I have read a lot of books lately since we have moved and am currently rereading a book I bought last year. But one of the books that I have gotten to review I finally finished it and am currently loving it. It has definitely put a different perspective on how we live in the United States and how much it differs from living in Europe or elsewhere.
“Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City” by Matthew Desmond has put a different meaning and perspective to say the least for me. I know that growing up in Maryland there were a lot of hardships and such with living so close to Baltimore but I never knew that living in the larger cities was harder than it seemed. I have never been evicted before in my life but know of several people who were and I know and saw how difficult it was for them. They cried and screamed and reached out for help but they didn’t get much if any. I prayed for them to find a place of their own and actually one of my best friends was homeless at one point. So sad and yet I still couldn’t help them. I thank the Lord that she now has her son and a wonderful husband where she is able to have a stable life. But before that it was difficult. Matthew Desmond has opened my eyes and seeing that even all people will go through the struggles in life no matter where you are from or who you are. This book is a must read in my opinion and you’ve got to check it out! You can purchase from any book store and from Amazon.com.
