Comparison Girl Book Review

Comparison Girl Book Review

*Disclaimer: I received an advance copy of the book “Comparison Girl” in advance to help facilitate my review. All my opinions are 100% my own.

Have you ever compared yourself to others thinking that your life isn’t as cool as theirs? I have been guilty of doing that many times thinking of how lucky someone is based on where they live, their life decisions and more. But now that I have a teenager who yes we homeschool, still compares herself to other too. I feel that no matter who we are, we will always try to compare ourselves to others. I know that when I scroll through social media it can seem like someone has their stuff together compared to myself…but what we don’t know is what is really going in their lives. Are they really as happy as they seem or is it a show for everyone else?

I received the book “Comparison Girl” in advance by Shannon Popkin and after reading it made me think, I need to stop comparing myself to others. Jesus didn’t want us to compare to everyone else, he made us all different and that’s the way it should be. I need to stop thinking that everyone else is better than me or has a better house or their life is so much more exciting than mine. I also need to remember to make sure Olivia doesn’t compare herself to others either. This book will walk you through on getting past comparing yourself and just learn to measure up to God. This book is available for purchase now and I highly suggest that you go get it. This can be for not only yourself, but for your daughter, or anyone else in the family who needs to hear this message. I will be handing it over to Olivia in the near future to read!

More for Mom Book Review

More for Mom Book Review

*Disclaimer – I did receive an advance copy of the book “More for Mom” by Kristen Funston in order to help facilitate my review. All opinions are 100% my own.

As a mom, we like to think that we are invincible or we do everything under control and don’t lose our cool with anything. Well, we do lose our cool and we sometimes don’t have it all together and that’s alright. We are human and we aren’t invincible because we as moms want to care for our children. We want the best for them and we want to encourage them to do what’s right. But we know that sometimes it doesn’t go our way and it’s hard to admit when you’ve been defeated. Have you ever read a book that made you feel like you aren’t the only mom out there that just can’t get it right?

This book “More for Mom” by Kristen Funston has made me realize that I’m not alone in this whole parenting thing. I took have trials and triumphs that every other moms have. But have you thought about who you are as a whole and how you live your life will reflect on your kids? Growing up I always went to Sunday School and then Church and never thought that I wouldn’t ever go. But guys, let’s be real here for a second. Whenever you become a new mom you don’t know how you will ever sleep, eat or even take a shower. Let alone there may be days where you don’t even want to leave the house even if it is for church.

We all want to follow in the Lord’s path and we want to live a holy life. As moms though we sometimes get pushed aside and may have to step out from church service to tend to the kids. I get it, trust me. I don’t know how many times I had to do that when Olivia was younger and missed out on the sermon more times than I can count. I have always had the Lord on my side, but didn’t know how I could learn about him more. This book has given me a new hope on life that I’m not the only one who struggles. I’m not the only one who has an adult meltdown because my day or week didn’t go right. It’s OK when that happens too because we too need our little time to ourselves. Reading this book allowed me to learn how to cope in different stages and how to be more holy everyday.

Ellie Claire Faith-Based Journals Review

Ellie Claire Faith-Based Journals Review

Disclosure: I received these 3 journals for free in exchange for an honest review. All my opinions are my own!

When I first received these journals last week I fell in love with them! I have been looking for a journal when I have been studying and reading my Bible. I have been reading my Bible daily and a lot of people know that I journal in mine. But these have helped me get through a few things that I have been working on for months. Writing my feelings out as I read the Bible which has helped me realize that I’m not one who normally does this. But these journals are absolutely beautiful in ever way you could imagine!

The one that I am keeping for myself is the one in the middle. I’m keeping it so that I can continue to write and learn to journal better with cooler looking letters. I love how this one can help you learn to journal with different letters, different style writing and you can practice in it too. I’ve also started a little bullet journal in some of the pages for a few things that I love to keep track of. I love how it also contains a loop on the outside of the journal to hold my pencil or pen to as you can tell in the picture.

The other larger journal has pages where you can color in them as you journal along with the Bible. The pages are absolutely beautifully done and they allow for you to write as much as you’d like. For those of you who like to illustrate you’re own pictures, you can do that too if you’d like. This book I fell in love with as well but I will be gifting this to one of my nieces this Christmas. This one does not have a loop on the outside for you to store you pencil or pen to but if you’d want to just color some color pencils would go lovely with this one which I may have to get to gift it with.

The last journal is another one of my favorite ones. I like how it is a little smaller but it still can pack a punch to it. It does come with a bookmark, a loop on the outside for your pen and a little elastic to go around the journal. If you’d like to use this one to attach pictures of memories to you can know they won’t go missing with the little extra elastic around the book. This is another one that is going to one of my nieces and they will love it. I still need to be sure to add maybe some markers or some pens to make it extra special when I give it to her.

These journals are all made by Ellie Claire in which I feel that you will fall in love with them just as much as I have. If you’d like to gift them to someone who you know, or maybe put under the tree for yourself you can grab them here.
