Tax Free Weekend

This past weekend was Tax Free in North Carolina. Jason and I both took advantage of it when buying books for Olivia’s schooling. We checked out a homeschool store in Fayetteville and we enjoyed going there as well. We have changed her science up a bit already because it seems that she just wasn’t enjoying the zoology as we thought she would. So instead of doing Apologia we are doing BJU Science 5 with her. We reviewed over the 4th grade science and felt she would not be interested in it so we decided to go up and challenge her. Something that she has never gotten when she was in public school. Another thing we have added to her daily lessons is reading. We decided to do Abeka Reading 4 with her and are awaiting for the books to get here. I ordered them off eBay last night and we should be getting them sometime this week. We are looking forward to starting that next week with her. Until then we are going to begin reading together “Little House in the Big Woods” and talk about how it was like to live in those days without iPhones, iPads, computers, tv’s and more. It’s something that I have been wanting to do with her for a while but this is just the jumpstart that she needs and motivation for her.

I got for me a planner that I can use to plan out my daily lessons as well. So far it has helped me out a lot. I will be updating this more now that my two summer classes are almost finished with. I will be beginning Accounting 1 and another class in less than 2 weeks. Yay! Can’t wait! I love homeschooling Olivia!
