Please Pray for a Miracle for Makayla!!!

Ok I normally don’t ask for many people to pray but this time I really need everyone’s prayers!!! Friday we had ice and snow and there was a nasty accident right in front of my mom’s school, Cooper’s Elementary. Here is the article from the Rocky Mount Telegram:

“The two vehicle accident that sent 7-year-old Makayla Maloney and a first-grade classmate to the hospital was weather related.

Friday morning’s ice and freezing rain caused an unusually high amount of accidents, marking the first day of vulnerable winter roadways, N.C. Highway Patrol Sgt. L.C. Harrell said.

Tracy Maloney of Rocky Mount, Makayla’s mother, was driving north on N.C. 58 when her 2000 Jeep hit ice at the Interstate 95 overpass. Maloney lost control of the vehicle, spun around and collided with the front of an 18-wheeler traveling in the opposite direction, Trooper Kevin Heath said.

Makayla was flown to Pitt County Memorial, where she remained in critical condition at presstime.

Her injuries as of Friday afternoon were a broken pelvis, bleeding of the brain and a possible fractured sternum, Heath said.

The other student was taken to Nash General Hospital with cuts and scratches, and then transported to Pitt with possible stomach problems, Heath said. The female student’s name was not disclosed because she is a minor.

Makayla’s name reached the Telegram through a chain prayer e-mail and was verified by Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools Executive Director of Communications Sandy Drum.

Maloney was taken to Nash General with minor head injuries and a chipped tooth, Heath said. The driver of the 18-wheeler, Nigel Bullen of New York, was not injured. No charges were filed by presstime.”

Ok now here is the real kicker. I just found out that tonight Makayla will need a miracle for her to live. She has had a brain stem injury and she is having a lot of bleeding in her brain. It’s really heart wrenching knowing that this sweet little girl was fine until the horrible accident on Friday morning. You never know when something like this will happen to your family. Please keep Makayla in your thoughts and prayers that this little girl lives!!!!
