Hey Mama! Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 Review
Now that our school year is over and we are looking forward to next years school year! I am looking forward to actually doing the lesson plans for Olivia’s learning this go round compared to having it already planned out for me. This is something that I honestly have never done and I have all summer to get ready for my lesson. But something that will now help me even more is using my Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 this go round by The Old Schoolhouse. I was lucky enough to be able to review this and I have already started looking at our curriculum and trying to figure out what to start with first in planning. This planner is dated from July 2016 to June 2017 which is going to be perfect!!

Hey Mama! Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 Review
When I first received my Hey Mama! Schoolhouse Planner I realized that it would not work with my box set curriculum as all of Olivia’s lessons were planned for us already. This was something that when we first started homeschooling worked for us as I didn’t understand how to do lesson plans and didn’t want to do them either. But this coming school year is very different, Olivia’s learning has changed and I have learned what she is good at and what she struggles with. This planner is going to work so well with our family and even be able to work with the different appointments that Olivia has as well. One of the things that I love about this planner is that it has great little pick me ups.

I also love the other things that they have other things in this planner that makes it all worth having which other planners that I have gotten didn’t have. I love how it has yearly goals in the back for each child. Of course I only have one child but when the time comes to adopt and we homeschool that one then we will get to that point and we can homeschool more than one. This planner will be perfect for anyone who has more than one child. Also I love how it has an Attendance Chart in the back for each child. This is so much easier to keep up with the amount of days we do. So we need to do the 180 days each year and this is such an easier way to keep up with it. Plus we love to homeschool because we can homeschool on the weekends compared to public and private schools. Plus even when we go on Field Trips they are still considered school days for us because we are learning.

They Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner has a spot in the back of the book where you can put for each child, Books Read This Year. This will come in handy for us since we plan on using books as part of Olivia’s literature. This is something that will be wonderful for her and for me to keep up and a record of the books that we read and she reads as well. Plus this planner has a curriculum planning sheet which is pretty cool since I have never seen one before in a planner before. And I love the homeschooling contact list as well. Pretty neat considering that we are going to be doing different activities this coming school year. Plus this planner has many different helpful information as well! I love this planner and I will be using it each school year! Whats something even better? Please check out their Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Google+ pages.

One thing that Olivia loves is Science! She would rather do science over math any day of the week, but sometimes with the science lessons she gets bored with them. So why not mix things up a bit every few days and give her something

Writers in Residence Review

Olivia has always loved English and writing, but trying to read her own handwriting is crazy. She isn’t strong in that way because of her Autism Spectrum Disorder and her ADHD and well sometimes her writing can be a little off in general. We were lucky enough to try out Writers in Residence from Apologia Educational Ministries.

Apologia: Writers in Residence Review
This is an amazing 4 day per week course that you do with your child and it is laid out in a manner that the child is able to do the lessons in no time. Olivia enjoyed the lessons and is still enjoying the lessons. We use these lessons in addition to her regular lesson in English and Handwriting to help her get some extra lessons in helping her with her writing. I love how this incorporates the Bible into the writing and the lessons which when we started up with finding a Homeschool curriculum that was on high on the list.

Apologia: Writers in Residence Review
The student text book is an all in one book that is the text book and the workbook all in one. I really like that because sometimes going from one book to another for Olivia can get to be just too much for her. This is good for students who are in grades 4th through 6th grades and this is perfect for Olivia to work on this year and next year. The lessons are sometimes quick and easy for Olivia and then some days they can be long for her to do. We sometimes will have to split them up into two different days for her because her hand will get tired from writing but this is something that she struggles with and the OT knows about it and we are currently working on it with her right now. Not only did we get the Student Textbook and Workbook but we also got the Answer Key as well. This was a nice surprise because we didn’t have to worry about having to come out of pocket for this or trying to go online and find the answer key. I like having this book because we can have all the answers to the questions that are needed for Olivia to the answers that she might have had to answer. Also I love the fact that both books coinside with each other and that is awesome!

You can purchase this product online as a set for $89.00 and I think that is a perfect price considering if you purchase them separate then it will cost you a total of $80 for the Textbook/Workbook and $15 for the Answer Key. So you are saving some money here. Apologia Educational Ministries is a wonderful company for educational purposes. We have used them for science before but had to switch Olivia because she already knew all the answers to everything she was learning in the book. Figures especially since it was on Animals. They believe in the teaching of the Bible and the teachings of Christ and we as parents believe in allowing these teachings to be taught to our children. I did receive Writers in Residence for free as a review as part of Schoolhouse Review Crew. Please check out their Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram Pages for more information too!

The Trigger Memory Co REVIEW
Now that Olivia has overcome her fear of doing math using different programs to help Olivia is even better for her. She loves math now and isn’t afraid to try new things out. We have been lucky enough to use several different programs for Olivia to help supplement her learning everyday and using Times Tales by The Trigger Memory Co. has not been any different. Olivia now has a firm grasp on how to do multiplication but adding this into the mix while she is working on her division has helped out tremendously just to keep multiplication in her mind.

The Trigger Memory Co REVIEW
Times Tales is such a great program to use for children who want to learn the multiplication or are having a difficult time remembering how to do it. Olivia was having a difficult time at one point in learning the times table so that is where this program came in handy for us. She now has a full grasp on how it goes and how it will always be. We were provided with a digital download of the program which included a fun new approach on how to learn multiplication! I had been teaching it to Olivia just as I was taught it but this way is a lot more fun for her and she enjoyed it so much! This digital download had two different parts to it compared to the DVD in which it is all included in one spot, plus we could watch it anytime on the computer while away from a TV or DVD player which can be useful since we travel a lot. It also included in the digital download some printables which comes in several different PDF files that you can print and give to your child or children to complete. Some of these files included crossword puzzles, tests, puzzles (one of Olivia’s favorites) and flashcards which came in handy for Olivia while we traveled. We also made different flashcards for Olivia and laminated them for her to use while at her dad’s house which came in handy quite often.

The Trigger Memory Co REVIEW
This program will be excellent for any student who is struggling in math and especially in multiplication. It can be used as a primary lesson or can be used to help out your child who may be having trouble learning it another way. This can be used also for children who have a learning disability as well. I wish this had been out when I was learning multiplication because I struggled with learning it as well. I of course had a learning disability in math due to the series of seizures I had as a child but any child who may not sit still during a regular lesson will be able to sit still through this program. Olivia has ADHD and most days will not sit still during any lesson, but with Times Tales she will sit through it because it actually does fun games with your child such as a game show to help them learn the material. This is something that I wish some of my own college course had. I truly love this product for Olivia to help keep it on her brain and fresh in her mind so that when the end of the year testing comes she won’t be struggling with the math portion! Next year we will be back on track with the grade levels and this will be awesome for her to keep up with. The cost of the digital download is $19.95. Check out their facebook page as well for more information.

I highly recommend this product to any parent, teacher, or grandparents for their children or students. You don’t even have to be a homeschooler to use this program. This will help any child at any age to be able to help with their times tables or just as a refresher. I watched several of these lessons and had fun relearning what I have forgotten for years considering everything I do now uses a calculator in college! I did receive a complimentary digital download of this program from The Trigger Memory Co. and as a Schoolhouse Review Crew member!
