July is Gone…Hello August!

July is Gone…Hello August!

It’s hard to believe that July has come and gone! Life got busy during the month of July as I started working full-time again after being a stay at home mom for almost 6 years. I have enjoyed the extra income into the house and

Fall Field Trips Coming Soon!

Fall Field Trips Coming Soon!

We are getting excited because we are headed on our first of many fall field trips with the local homeschool group! Tomorrow we are headed to Maple View Farms in Hillsborough, NC and we are excited about that one! This is the same farm that

And We Are…Homeschooling Again!!

And We Are…Homeschooling Again!!

Well I know that must be a shocker for most of you. But we gave it a shot and I won’t talk bad about the school she was going to but it just wasn’t for her and us. We were already having issues with the school and it just wasn’t a good fit. So we have decided to stick with homeschooling until Olivia graduates school. She is actually excited about it. We are doing Abeka Academy this year and not the accredited one because we didn’t want her to feel rushed at all. I’m glad that we have decided to do this as well.

So as you can tell her curriculum will be Abeka but in handwriting she will be continuing to do Handwriting without Tears Cursive Writing! No big deal here! We decided to take her books that she had gotten from the private school and consign them at the local homeschool store. We then in return purchased the whole kit from Abeka Academy and were able to make payments on the kit and the tuition as well so that works for us instead of having to come out of pocket for everything up front like we did with the private school. And we still didn’t have the teachers manuals and the test keys and what not. So this is a better deal in our opinion. Next year we may just do the same thing! We also chose to do the DVD Video lessons as well which will be wonderful for Olivia in case I need to take a break or something.

We will be receiving the rest of her books on Thursday and will begin school on Monday the 11th. Olivia has had a good week to get things together and she is looking forward though to beginning school again. Even if it is at home. We already have a field trip planned out with a few other local homeschooling families to a local farm for Homeschool Day. Can’t wait for that to roll around! Yay! We shall have a good time for that! Have you already started school? Or when are you beginning classes for your homeschool?

Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017

Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017

Hey Mama! Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 Review
Now that our school year is over and we are looking forward to next years school year! I am looking forward to actually doing the lesson plans for Olivia’s learning this go round compared to having it already planned out for me. This is something that I honestly have never done and I have all summer to get ready for my lesson. But something that will now help me even more is using my Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 this go round by The Old Schoolhouse. I was lucky enough to be able to review this and I have already started looking at our curriculum and trying to figure out what to start with first in planning. This planner is dated from July 2016 to June 2017 which is going to be perfect!!

Hey Mama! Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 Review
When I first received my Hey Mama! Schoolhouse Planner I realized that it would not work with my box set curriculum as all of Olivia’s lessons were planned for us already. This was something that when we first started homeschooling worked for us as I didn’t understand how to do lesson plans and didn’t want to do them either. But this coming school year is very different, Olivia’s learning has changed and I have learned what she is good at and what she struggles with. This planner is going to work so well with our family and even be able to work with the different appointments that Olivia has as well. One of the things that I love about this planner is that it has great little pick me ups.

I also love the other things that they have other things in this planner that makes it all worth having which other planners that I have gotten didn’t have. I love how it has yearly goals in the back for each child. Of course I only have one child but when the time comes to adopt and we homeschool that one then we will get to that point and we can homeschool more than one. This planner will be perfect for anyone who has more than one child. Also I love how it has an Attendance Chart in the back for each child. This is so much easier to keep up with the amount of days we do. So we need to do the 180 days each year and this is such an easier way to keep up with it. Plus we love to homeschool because we can homeschool on the weekends compared to public and private schools. Plus even when we go on Field Trips they are still considered school days for us because we are learning.

They Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner has a spot in the back of the book where you can put for each child, Books Read This Year. This will come in handy for us since we plan on using books as part of Olivia’s literature. This is something that will be wonderful for her and for me to keep up and a record of the books that we read and she reads as well. Plus this planner has a curriculum planning sheet which is pretty cool since I have never seen one before in a planner before. And I love the homeschooling contact list as well. Pretty neat considering that we are going to be doing different activities this coming school year. Plus this planner has many different helpful information as well! I love this planner and I will be using it each school year! Whats something even better? Please check out their Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Google+ pages.

FishFlix.com Movie Review {War Room DVD}

FishFlix.com Movie Review {War Room DVD}

FishFlix.com Review
I dont’ know about you but one thing that we love to do as a family is sit down and watch movies together. This is something that I have always grown up with doing as a family but not only that but also watching movies with my husband. Since you know that Jason is a truck driver, that is one thing that he gets to watch a lot of is movies but when he comes home we love to watch Christian family movies together. I was lucky enough to be able to review the movie “War Room” from FishFlix.com. This movie was just as good as the other movies done by the Kendrick Brothers!

War Room was one of the movies I wanted to see in theaters but we just never got to go see it before it was no longer in the movies. I was quite upset when I found that out but when I found out I was going to be able to review it, I was extremely excited about it. I love all the movies done by the Kendrick Brothers and this movie was no exception as to being an excellent, Christian, Family movie! This movie is about a family and a couple who constantly fight over money, how they raise their daughter and more. It’s something that a lot of us see happen even in our own homes. With Tony being a salesman and his wife, Elizabeth a successful realtor they can’t seem to be happy anymore with each other. Elizabeth goes to put a house on the market and finds a true friend who will help her lead her way through prayer. One thing that had me balling my eyes out was the end result. This movie has helped me realize that no matter what people say or think about your marriage or how you praise Him, it shouldn’t matter because only you know what you are doing right. Having a special place to go pray and read about the Good Word is something that you should often have. I don’t have War Room myself, but I have a special place that I read from the Bible and pray in. We all have our own battles but having a War Room might help in the long run for many of us. Praying with my husband is something that I need to do more often and praying for others who may have fallen is one thing I need to personally work on. Maybe when I get my own home I can get my own War Room!!!

The Kendrick Brothers who wrote and produced this movie also did amazing motivational movies like Facing the Giants, FireProof and Courageous. Fireproof made me realize that I couldn’t fix my last marriage but made me hopeful for finding true love and fighting for it. I know that finding my true love, Jason was the best thing that could have happened for me. It gave me hope in loving life again and I fall in love with him more and more each day!

FishFlix.com Review
FishFlix.com is an amazing website that has a lot of different Christian movies that you can order. I have found several movies that I want to get for our home collection such as Woodlawn, Little House on the Prairie and Christy. I love being able to go on this site and checking out the bargains, apparel and more. The movies are priced at a price that our family can afford and they have movies I will never have to worry about to show my family. This is a site that I have saved to buy movies to even give away to friends and family for gifts. You can also check out their Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest accounts! I did receive a complimentary copy of War Room from FishFlix.com and as part of the Schoolhouse Review Crew to be able to help complete my honest review!
