‘Batty Betty’ by Kathryn Hast Book Review

‘Batty Betty’ by Kathryn Hast Book Review

*This is a sponsored post and I was sent a complimentary copy of the book, ‘Batty Betty’ in order to help facilitate my review. All my opinions are 100% my own!

Let’s Face it…we have all been bullied at least once in our lifetime! I know that growing up I was bullied a lot because I was always sick and it wasn’t a pleasant thing to go through. Olivia was bullied in her new school that she attended at the beginning of the year because she was different and it was hard to watch her go through that. What got me was that the teachers allowed it with the girls but not with the boys. Ugh. Did you know that October is Bullying Awareness Month? I didn’t either until just a few short weeks ago and so let me introduce you to this amazing book that I was sent to read and do a review on.

‘Batty Betty’ by Kathryn Hast is a great book! It’s OK to be different, although to many different isn’t OK at all! A lot of people think everyone has to be just like everyone else so if you are a little different it’s in their nature to bully one to make themselves feel better. But they don’t think about themselves. Here is a little more on the book:

Abel, the tuba; Eve, the sad banana; and Betty, a giant who dances unapologetically to her own drum. When Abel goes out marching by himself, he finds a sad banana named Eve who has been bullied by local beavers. As it turns out, she’s not alone. The beavers are also out for Betty, who stands out with her towering height and “batty” behavior. Abel sets out to defeat these beavers, but soon discovers it’s not about winning – it’s about finding your own music amidst the ruckus and noise.

“I’m really committed to the notion that kids can read, think, and discuss ideas that might initially seem difficult,” Hast says. “My hope is that Batty Betty offers both entertainment and depth and can serve as a springboard for conversations between parents and children.”

Playful yet touching, Batty Betty explores:

  • Why it’s not only okay – it’s GREAT – to be different
  • The best way to stand up to bullies (tune out their noise, find your music!)
  • Opportunities for parents and kids to begin discussions about tough topics
  • A unique and surprising style of writing everyonewill enjoy reading
  • And much more!

Kathryn Hast has a Master’s of Fine Arts degree in writing and a Master’s degree in Education. She is from York, Pennsylvania, and currently lives in Asheville, North Carolina with her husband and two children. She has one dog named after a Beatles song, and one that barks at the television. Batty Betty is her second published children’s book, following her previous title Otis Grows. When Jesus Was a Green-Eyed Brunette Book Review & Giveaway

When Jesus Was a Green-Eyed Brunette Book Review & Giveaway

Are you looking for a good book to read over the holiday’s? I am always looking for a good book to read and this one since I am finished with my classes was a book that I had a hard time putting down, once I started to read it! The book, “When Jesus Was a Green-Eyed Brunette” by Max Davis, was just the book I have been looking for. I have been struggling lately with just things on how people treat others and so forth, and this book has helped me want to love people like God does!

For those who may have wondered away from reading the Bible, going to church or just have been hurting because of how you were once treated…then this is the book for you! I have been hurt before after attending a few churches and well I have needed some guidance back into the church. I have been hurt before by others and I really wanted to love them just as I would want to be loved, but they showed no mercy towards me. So in return I would do things back just to hurt them! I don’t like to hurt others but it was my way of showing how I really felt! This book is for those who may be worn out from religion and need a reason to go back to studying the Good Book of the Lord! Max Davis has done such an awesome job on this book that I am willing to share my copy with anyone who lives near by me and would like to borrow it. But for those of you who don’t live near by then I have a deal for you below as I’m giving away to 1 lucky reader their very own copy of the book! You can pick this book up at your local book store or online. Please check out the website here for the book!

I was given the opportunity to read this book from Flyby Promotions and I am giving away a copy to 1 of my lucky readers! Please look at the form below to enter! Open to all residents of the USA and Canada! Please enter by 12/26/16 at 10:00 pm EST!

Uninvited Book Review

Uninvited Book Review

_225_350_book-1988-cover

Are you looking for a good book to read? I have found the one for everyone who has ever felt like they haven’t been able to get past the rut of feeling run down. I have been wanting to read this book ever since it came out and saw it in the store just a few weeks ago! “Uninvited” by Lysa TerKeurst has been such a wonderful book to me. I have a way of making myself feel unwanted, unwelcomed or just depressed like I am a 3rd wheel sometimes. But after reading this book, it has helped me realize that I am not the only person who beats themselves up over something so little or silly. Everyone does and it’s an easy rut to get stuck in if your not careful.

Lysa has written this book with such great knowledge and a way that it makes you think like you aren’t the only one who goes through hard times and rough patches in your life! I have for many years felt rejected at times when I go to church and it’s a horrible feeling to have. I have tried to make friends with many at church but feel like if you’re not part of the certain group at church than you aren’t worth even being around the people. I haven’t been to church for several months because of this feeling and I’m not sure why people can be like this. Especially at church! I just want to have friends at church but since I’m not part of the “A” crowd at church then what’s the point right? This is another reason I have been depressed and it hurts my feelings more than anything. I will continue to read this book over and over again until I feel confident enough to continue to be normal again.

I did receive this book from BookLook Bloggers and all my opinions are 100% my own!
