Mountain Life

This week we are spending it up in the mountains. My parents own a timeshare up here in Basye, Virginia and we decided to use it this year since we’re homeschooling again. It has been wonderful and here it is Wednesday and the week is halfway over. We’re not sure if we are going to be leaving early yet or not just because Olivia is not feeling so hot right now. Darn ears. And it’s raining here again. But Monday we got to spend the whole day with Jason and that was so nice already.

We went to Luray Caverns on Monday and from what I can remember it has definitely became over-rated and much more expensive since the last time I went which was back in 1995. OK I know it was like 20 years ago but still…it cost us a good $54 for just the 3 of us to go to the caverns. Crazy I know and that included the discount tickets we had. Olivia enjoyed it though and so we can definitely cross that off our check list. Then we went to Skyline Drive in the Shenendoah National Park and I don’t remember having to pay to get onto the drive but for each car that goes on the drive you have to pay $20 for it. Crazy! Well the good news is that you can use that for a week so that is good news then so it’s less than $3 a day if you go each day which the past two days it has been rainy and cold. Then we decided to go on a little hike and well that little hike has done something to me because my legs and ankles are still killing me. I could barely move yesterday but today when i got up I could so that’s a good thing. I had planned on going to an Orchard today to get some fresh apples and pumpkins but since its raining it’s not going to happen today. Maybe tomorrow. Olivia is still asleep if you can believe it?!

This never happens unless she doesn’t feel good. So maybe it’s a good thing we are staying in again today. We might venture out to Route 11 Potato Chips later to watch them cook the chips but that’s if this lazy bone will get up. Other than that we are going to just chill for a while again and work on school work.

We love the mountains and the relaxation that this vacation has given us but this rain is making me not want to do anything but sleep.
