I remember when I first heard about this book a few years ago and actually read it then. It’s been years since I had read it and when I had the opportunity to review it, I jumped right on the opportunity because I loved the book and am very excited about the movie coming into theaters!
The book is very intense and is about Pastor Don Piper died January 18, 1989 when a semi-tractor truck crushed his car. Declared dead by the first rescue workers to arrive on the scene, Don’s body lay under a tarp for the next 90 minutes. Don’s soul, meanwhile, was experiencing love, joy, and life like he’d never known before. Don was in Heaven.
When another pastor’s prayers helped bring Don back to life, he became a living miracle! Yet this is one miracle Don wished never happened. Heaven’s bliss was replaced by excruciating pain and emotional turmoil. With the support and prayers of his beloved Eva, their three kids, and friends near and far, Don clings to his faith in God and fights to regain a semblance of his previous life. The Piper family’s incredible true story of perseverance and overcoming the challenges of life – and death – will bring hope and encouragement to all who see it.
The movie is going to be a good one because it has Hayden Christensen, Kate Bosworth, Michael W. Smith, Fred Thompson, Dwight Yoakman, and Jason Kennedy starring in it. It was released on Friday, September 11, 2015 and I can’t wait to go see it. I was on vacation last week when it was released but I plan on going and seeing it soon with my family! While I read the book I cried so I’m expecting to do the same with the movie. The movie is rated at PG-13 so if you do take your little ones with you just be aware ahead of the movie of the rating and it has graphic scenes in the movie.
I was sent a copy of the book from the movie from Flyby to be able to help facilitate my review! All my opinions are my own!
